Antonia's Story

May 2009: Antonia was found abandoned at a church in Kericho and taken to Kericho hospital. She barely weighed 4 lb.

June 2009: By the time she was admitted to New Life Home a few weeks later, her weight had dropped to 3.74 lb. Nestled into a cot, we've kept her warm with a hot water bottle as she became used to that in the hospital. We've begun bottle feedings with formula instead of the cow's milk they use in the hospital.

July 2009: She was transferred from Isolation into ICU after 2 weeks, where she has been spoiled by all the cuddles and love she receives. She did develop a chest infection, but it has responded well to antibiotics.

September 2009: Sweet little Antonia loves her bottle! She now weighs 4.1 kg, just over 9 lb.

October 2009
: Antonia is very free with her smiles and the melts the hearts of those who care for her. She loves to play with the toys hanging in front of her and lying on the mat with her age group in the day room. She will be transferred to special care unit soon when she reaches 11 lb.

January 2010: Antonia has been adopted! She will be going home with an international family soon as the new parents prepare to arrive in Kenya. Thank you for your prayers, Antonia will be going home with forever parents and will be always grateful for the support she received through her difficult first year of life.
